SIGNING OF THE CAMP CHARTER, SEPTEMBER 1994
CHOLLA BRANCH, PHOENIX PUBLIC LIBRARY
Even though our Camp was chartered in March 1990, through a strange set of circumstances our Camp Charter document was not received until September 1994...apparently in 1990 the document was sent to the then-Army of the Transmississippi Commander, James Meadows of Texas, who was supposed to present it to the Camp. Commander Meadows passed away shortly thereafter. The document remained untouched among his papers until it was discovered in mid-1994 by a family member, who forwarded it to S.C.V. Headquarters, who then...finally...forwarded to our Camp! Needless to say, whether late or not, we were glad to get it, and held our charter signing ceremony at the next Camp meeting.

JEFFERSON DAVIS MEMORIAL SERVICE, DECEMBER 1994
JEFFERSON DAVIS MONUMENT, U.S. HIGHWAY 60, EAST OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA
In 1994, the Commander in Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans ordered all Camps to hold a memorial service in honour of Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Having recently discovered that a monument to President Davis existed in Arizona, on U.S. Highway 60 east of Apache Junction, it was decided to hold our Camp's ceremony there. The date chosen was the Saturday closest to the anniversary of the death of President Davis, which took place 6 December 1889. The monument is in a rather remote location, and a very small number of people attended this first ceremony.
